FC San Diego Join Us

FC San Diego has several Girls and Boys Teams looking for talented players. If you are interested please contact Brian Quinn  Director of Boys Soccer or Raffi Ruotolo Director of Girls Soccer

How We Started

FC San Diego is a non-profit youth soccer organization that fields both recreational and competitive teams.  Based in Rancho Bernardo, California, FC San Diego is the consolidation of two great area soccer programs: The Rancho Bernardo Youth Soccer Association (RBYSA) and The San Diego Soccer Club (SDSC).

Why Join FC San Diego

By 2006, the popularity of youth soccer in San Diego County had increased significantly.  The number of soccer clubs in North County had grown considerably, and resources were spread thin.  The Director of Soccer Operations at RBYSA Brian Quinn (Former US National Team Member and World Champion San Diego Sockers Player and Coach) and SDSC Raffi Ruotolo (Former World Champion San Diego Sockers Player) saw the opportunity that a merger of their two clubs would create for the soccer players in the San Diego community, and spearheaded a campaign to merge.  In December 2006, FC San Diego was created from these two organizations, keeping the best of both clubs and benefiting from nearly three decades of youth soccer in the North County area.

Premier Level Competitive Soccer Boys and Girls U 8 - U 19

The FC San Diego competitive soccer program offers teams in every age group from U8 through U19 for those who are interested in a higher level of play.   These teams are coached by a highly qualified international coaching staff that train and develop youth soccer players with the objective of having them ultimately qualify for College, Olympic, National Team, and Professional Soccer, such as Shannon MacMillan, Women's National Team Player and World Cup Champion, who played her youth soccer career with our club.  Competitive coaching focuses on skill development in the early years and tactical abilities in the later years. And while winning is always our coaches' game objective, skill development of our young players is our focus.

FC San Diego's program offers soccer to kids of all levels and ages from recreational to premier level competitive teams. Our goal is to develop each player and to ensure each player improves from year to year. Each age group has several teams allowing a player to grow and progress to higher levels all at the same club. The FC San Diego program has grown to be the premier club of North San Diego fielding many Premier level teams in both the Girls and Boys programs. Many FC San Diego players have been scouted and invited to the Cal South Olympic Development Program and invited to the adidas ESP Elite soccer camps. Many players in our program have successfully entered college soccer programs and earned athletic scholarships. The club hosts an annual College Recruiting session to educate players and families on the recruiting procress and to assist them through the process.

For more information about our Teams Contact Raffi Ruotolo Director of Girls Soccer and Brian Quinn  Director of Boys Soccer.

Recreational Soccer

FC San Diego has a recreational soccer program that is a childhood staple in the Rancho Bernardo Community.  Children from ages 3 through 14 are introduced to the game of soccer through practices and games played during the Fall and Spring seasons.  The coaches are parent volunteers who are trained by the FC San Diego professional coaching staff.  The teams are taught age appropriate skills at practice, and have weekly games on Saturday throughout the season.  In addition, RB Rec Soccer also offers skills clinics and all-star games, and a tournament at the end of each season. For more information go to Recreational Soccer

How We Operate

FC San Diego is operated by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers and professional coaches. FC San Diego's first goal is to provide the best possible soccer development and growth opportunity for every player with the needs of the players being the primary consideration in all policies and decisions. We operate in compliance with all regulators including Presidio, Cal South, USYSA, and all government agencies. Our board meetings are open to all members and are held the first Tuesday of each month. In addition FC San Diego also seeks to be a meaningful contributor to the community organizing charity drives and fund raisers supporting needy players, our local Parks and Rec Departments and our local schools.
